Get started with MelonNote on iPhone

Start using MelonNote on iPhone: record a lecture, import a PDF, review your notes, and try flashcards or quizzes. Includes compatibility and purchase guidance.

MelonNote is an AI note taker and study app for iPhone. You can record audio, import documents, add photos, and turn the resulting notes into summaries, flashcards, quizzes, and tutor conversations. The current App Store listing requires iOS 17 or later.

The fastest useful start is one small source and one study task. You do not need to move an entire course into the app before deciding whether the workflow fits you.

Download the correct app

Open MelonNote on the App Store. Check the developer, device compatibility, and current version on the listing. The app ID is 6754255911.

The listing offers a free download with in-app purchases. Downloading the app does not establish that every AI feature is unlimited or included without payment. Read the purchase screen for the current access limits, price, billing period, and any trial conditions before subscribing.

Store prices can vary by region and change over time. This guide intentionally directs you to the current store and in-app terms rather than quoting a price that may not match your account.

Choose your first source

Start with material you are allowed to process. A short recording of your own explanation, a small course PDF, or a clear photo of your own notes can help you understand the workflow without a large setup effort.

Pick a topic you know well enough to check. If you begin with an unfamiliar subject, it is harder to judge whether the transcript or generated questions are accurate. A familiar topic lets you test the app’s handling of terminology and structure.

Decide on a simple goal, such as creating five useful questions from a page. The number is an illustrative target for your session, not a promise about a generation setting.

Record or import the material

Use the note-creation options to choose audio, document import, camera capture, or gallery selection. Grant the permission relevant to that action when iOS requests it.

For recording, make a short test and verify that the microphone can hear the speaker. For a PDF, check that the selected file contains readable text or clear pages. For a photo, use even lighting and avoid cutting off headings or labels.

If a permission was previously denied, inspect the app’s permissions in iOS Settings. The exact Settings layout can change with iOS versions, so use the on-device permission controls rather than assuming a particular sequence of menus.

Check the note before studying

After processing, review the transcript or extracted text. Pay attention to specialist words, numbers, negations, and the relationship between a table’s rows and columns. Compare a few important passages with the original source.

Read the summary as an overview. If you need an exact statement, return to the transcript or source. The summary-versus-transcript article explains how to use the two views together.

The iOS 1.0.9 release notes mention recording playback, audio export through Share, and a retry option for unfinished transcription. These controls can help you review or recover a recording workflow. Confirm the version installed on your phone if your interface differs.

Try one active study tool

Generate flashcards or a quiz from the note. Attempt answers before revealing feedback. If a question seems wrong or unclear, check the note instead of memorizing it simply because the app generated it.

Use the AI tutor for a focused follow-up: “Explain why the second example fits this definition” is easier to evaluate than “Teach me everything.” The tutor guide includes a useful structure for asking and checking questions.

For a PDF-focused session, follow the PDF-to-flashcards workflow. For classes, use the lecture recording workflow and keep the original recording while reviewing the note.

Understand access and data expectations

Consult the app’s current purchase screen for premium features and limits. If you subscribe, use Apple’s account subscription controls to inspect or manage the subscription. The store’s purchase terms govern the transaction.

AI processing can require an internet connection. Do not assume that note storage, AI generation, and cross-device access have the same requirements. Read the app’s privacy information and contact support with questions about sync or data handling in your version.

Before deleting the app or changing phones, verify what material you need to keep and which supported export or backup options are available. Do not treat an app listing as evidence that a particular note has been backed up.

Make the next session repeatable

Name the note clearly and place it in a course folder. Write down the concept you still need to practice. Return to that question later instead of repeatedly browsing the same summary.

For help, email [email protected] with your iPhone model, iOS version, app version, and a short description of the problem. Avoid including sensitive study content unless sharing it is appropriate and necessary.

A note on using AI

Check generated material against your original notes. App features, access limits, and screen labels can vary by platform and version.

Put this into practice.

Start with one useful note in MelonNote. Turn it into questions you can answer, ideas you can explain, and a reason to come back tomorrow.
